May 12: National Limerick Day

I hate poetry.

I hate writing poetry.

It never makes any sense to me.

So a limerick has some complicated rules.

It has five lines. And is normally funny.

Lines 1, 2 and 5 have seven to ten syllables and rhyme.
Line 3 and 4 have five to seven syllables and rhyme.

Because that's easy to remember.

So here are limericks I made up.

Food: By Janelle

Donuts, brownies, cookies and cake
In the oven, bake, bake, bake
Delicious to taste
Adds weight to your waist
Eat too much, you may sink in the lake

Turtles: By Janelle

Swimming in the ocean, green and blue
Majestic, they don't belong in stew
Wondrous, gentle and free
They don't live to ski
Turtles aren't cows, they don't say "MOOO"

Have a limerick of your own? Let me know, leave a comment!
