June 5: National Donut Day

This is the day I have been waiting to celebrate since I started this blog back in January.

I actually celebrated this day last year without having any idea that less than a year later, I would be celebrating every National Day.

I even bought a Donut mug last year to help me celebrate the day. Because donuts and coffee are two of my favorite things.

This is one side of my Donut mug.

And this is the other.

I made two types of donuts to celebrate today: Chocolate Mocha Kahlua Donuts and Cinnamon Donuts

JazzyJ's Chocolate Mocha Kahlua Donuts:

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup Mocha Kahlua
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions:
1. Sir together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
2. Mix in buttermilk, Mocha Kahlua, eggs and melted butter.

I used a donut maker and cooked them for about 5 - 6 minutes. However, if you have donut pans, that works too!

3. Spray your donut pan with cooking spray and cook at 425 degrees for 7 - 8 minutes.

It really is this simple. I sprinkled some powdered sugar on top and then ate three.

Cinnamon Sugar Donuts:

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Directions:
1. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg
2. Add in eggs, milk, and melted butter.
 

Once again, you can either use a donut maker or cook in the oven at 425 degrees for 6 - 8 minutes. Sprinkled with powdered sugar if you desire. 

Now for the exciting part!
