June 5: National Donut Day

This is the day I have been waiting to celebrate since I started this blog back in January.

I actually celebrated this day last year without having any idea that less than a year later, I would be celebrating every National Day.

I even bought a Donut mug last year to help me celebrate the day. Because donuts and coffee are two of my favorite things.

This is one side of my Donut mug.

And this is the other.

I made two types of donuts to celebrate today: Chocolate Mocha Kahlua Donuts and Cinnamon Donuts

JazzyJ's Chocolate Mocha Kahlua Donuts:

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 cup Mocha Kahlua
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted

Directions:
1. Sir together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
2. Mix in buttermilk, Mocha Kahlua, eggs and melted butter.

I used a donut maker and cooked them for about 5 - 6 minutes. However, if you have donut pans, that works too!

3. Spray your donut pan with cooking spray and cook at 425 degrees for 7 - 8 minutes.

It really is this simple. I sprinkled some powdered sugar on top and then ate three.

Cinnamon Sugar Donuts:

Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted

Directions:
1. Stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg
2. Add in eggs, milk, and melted butter.

Once again, you can either use a donut maker or cook in the oven at 425 degrees for 6 - 8 minutes. Sprinkled with powdered sugar if you desire.

Now for the exciting part!

Do you see that beautiful blue donut material in the pictures? That's actually a donut pillowcase from my Etsy shop.

And do you see those cute donut hair ties/bracelets on my wrist in the middle picture on the right? Those are two of the cutest donut hair ties from PTies Etsy Store.

I have quite a few hair ties from her shop and I love them all.

I'm giving away a donut pillowcase AND a donut hair tie to one lucky person.

All you have to do is leave me a comment about a donut experience of yours. It can be any experience. Maybe your favorite type of donut? A picture of you eating a donut? The most donuts you have ever eaten in a single day?

I don't really care what your comment is, as long as it is related to donuts!

This contest is open until June 10, 2015.

The winner will be generated by a random number generator. So the first person who leaves the first comment will be "Number 1".

May 9: National Lost Sock and Moscato Day

I love socks. I love underwear more. But I still love socks.

But there is nothing worse than a lost sock.

Two months ago, I visited my friends at Disneyland and came home with the cutest pair of pretzel socks. Or so I thought.

However, I thought I only came home with one sock. After texting all of them, no one claimed to have seen it. At first, I was a little suspicious that one of them might have been wearing my pretzel sock but then I figured no one would wear just one pretzel sock. But then I remembered my friend Courtney only wears mis-matched socks, as in she just grabs two random socks and slides her feet into them. She seemed like the most likely victim. However, I wasn't going to interrogate her.

Luckily I didn't interrogate her because two weeks later my mom found my missing pretzel sock hiding behind the washing machine. (Sorry I blamed you in my head Courtney.)

Always look behind the washing machine if you are missing a sock.

We are going to make National Lost Sock Day fun. I'm holding a contest. If you can guess how many pairs of socks I own, I will send you a brand new pair of socks. The thing is, I have to get 10 comments on this post by 5/25/15. So leave me a comment of how many pairs of socks you think I own. The closest one, wins!

Note: These are not lost socks. I just decided to display some of my cute socks.
If I really had lost the mates to all these socks, I would be tragically sad. These are some of my favorite socks.

Hint: At one time in my life, I owned around 100 pairs of underwear. I don't own quite that number of pairs of socks, so it's lower than 100.

Ready, Set, Guess!

Also, it's National Moscato Day. Moscato wine happens to be my favorite type of wine! It's sweet and it's good. And sometimes you can find it in the clearance section of Winco! Why anyone would discount this wine, I don't know.
