I used to volunteer in a Kindergarten classroom. There is no one as happy as a Kindergartener. They say the cutest things, they do the cutest things, and they are cute.
They made me this sign when I had to leave.
There is one incident that taught me the importance of thinking on my feet. I had a small group I was working with. We were practicing rhyming words. One student wanted to rhyme with the word "duck." I knew where this was headed. So I said, "Let's change things up again and come up with a new word to rhyme with." Luckily, they are Kindergarteners and they are pretty easy going. No one questioned me. Thank goodness.
One of my friends volunteered in the same kindergarten class as me at the same time. Her experience was a little different playing this rhyming game. A student chose the starting word as "sit." Sure enough, the next little kid yelled, "tit." My friend played it cool and no one reacted. And in case you are wondering, a tit, is actually a small bird. So nothing to get riled up about.
Gotta love Kindergarteners.
